Winter Skincare Tips in Brisbane, How to Support Your HIFU Results

If your skin feels tighter, drier, or duller in winter, you are not imagining it. Even in Brisbane, cooler mornings and lower humidity can change how your skin behaves.
I see this every year in clinic. Clients who usually feel balanced in summer suddenly notice dehydration lines, rough texture, and a bit less glow. The good news is this is very manageable. A few smart changes can protect your skin barrier and support stronger HIFU outcomes.
As a qualified Sonographer with over 20 years of medical ultrasound experience and a qualification in dermal interventions, I like to keep things practical. Here is exactly what I recommend during Brisbane winter.
Why Winter Affects Your Skin, Even in Brisbane
We do not have freezing winters here, but your skin still deals with daily stress. Air conditioning, heaters, hot showers, and wind exposure can all increase water loss from the skin surface. That can leave skin feeling less supple, which may make fine lines look more visible.
If you are planning HIFU, or you have already had treatment, hydration and barrier support matter. HIFU works by stimulating collagen in deeper layers. Your surface care then helps maintain comfort and a healthy appearance while those collagen changes build over time. If you are new to treatment, start with my first time HIFU guide.
My 6 Winter Skincare Tips for Better HIFU Outcomes
- Cleanse gently, once at night. Use a non stripping cleanser in the evening. In the morning, a lukewarm rinse is often enough for dry or sensitive skin.
- Layer hydration before moisturiser. Apply a hydrating serum to damp skin, then seal with a richer moisturiser. This simple layering approach often gives a visible improvement in comfort and glow.
- Do not skip sunscreen. UV exposure is still present in winter. Daily SPF helps protect collagen and supports long term HIFU results.
- Turn down shower heat. Very hot water can strip natural oils. Keep showers warm, not hot, and pat skin dry instead of rubbing.
- Keep active ingredients balanced. If your skin is irritated, reduce frequency of stronger actives for a week or two. Consistency beats intensity during winter.
- Book treatment timing strategically. Winter is a great season for HIFU because most people have steadier routines and less sun exposure. You can read more about timing in my winter HIFU article.
What This Looks Like Around Your HIFU Session
Before treatment, focus on calm, hydrated skin. After treatment, follow your aftercare closely and avoid introducing multiple new products at once. If you want a detailed day by day plan, use my post treatment skincare routine.
If your goal is long term firmness, think in seasons, not days. HIFU gives the deep collagen signal. Your daily home routine supports the visible finish. Both matter.
Honest Advice I Give in Clinic
I will always tell you if HIFU is a strong fit, and I will also tell you if it is not. If severe laxity is the main concern, we discuss realistic expectations clearly from the start. You can also review common concerns in the HIFU FAQ and browse treatment areas and pricing on treatments and pricelist.
